Holding Court.

I know, I know...all babies have mood swings.  Sometimes, though, I think I have one of the moodiest of all. Felicia is, overall, a very happy baby. She brightens my day (until about 4 PM or so) with her constant stream of smiles, coos, words and giggles.  However, she does enjoy the melodramatics a bit. I knew she'd have a flair for the dramatics, and that is partially why I have been determined from the day of her birth not to raise "a little princess." I don't usually put her in clothes that say this term and I don't call her such.

I mean, come on, I saw what happened when my parents blessed my brother with the nickname "Ross the Boss" at a very young age. (Aw, Ross, I'm only teasing...) Ahem.

Anyhow, I don't want her growing up thinking she's a fussy little princess who can rule the kingdom and get whatever she wants. Grow up thinking she is special? Absolutely! Grow up thinking she is important to me? Yes! Grow up thinking she is my boss (all the time, anyway)? Nope. Apparently, though, she sees it differently.

But I waannnt that necklace!!

What, you think you're the boss? Harumph!

I am the princess. I won't deign to look your way.

Oh, Mom, don't get frustrated. I'm just an innocent little baby!

All joking and fun aside, I am proud to be raising this beautiful, happy, spunky little girl. And if she grows up to be opinionated (yet tactful) and therefore stands up for what she believes in, I'll be one of the happiest mommies in the subdivision. If she grows up with heartstrings that are as easy to pull on as the necklaces she is always breaking, I'll be ecstatic that my daughter knows how to feel things and is comfortable sharing those feelings. Now, it's just teaching her how to share those feelings without squawking obnoxiously, well, I guess that's what I have the next 18 or so years for. Plus more.

I can't wait!

Here's another picture from a different day just because it's so stinkin' cute and quirky. Cuirky?
