Ladies Only.

Felicia and I visited Iowa at the end of January. James was not able to join us, so Felicia and I decided to hop on the train instead of driving ourselves.  Feesh loved riding the train- she had a whole seat to herself!

(Yes, I'm aware of the unflattering ear wax shot.)

We hopped on the train here in KC at Union Station and went eastbound (the line ended in Chicago) to Fort Madison, where my sister graciously drove over an hour to pick us up.  After an interesting encounter and a few choice words with a Fort Madisonian (?) at a gas station, we were on our way to Solon, where we would stay for several nights to celebrate Drew's birthday and hang with the fam.

I wish I had a pic of my encounter at the gas station, but alas, no luck. But here are some others of the fam:

While in the Iowa City area, Felicia experienced her first snowfall!
(Let's get that other unflattering shot out of the way. Of me, that is.)
Speaking of snow, Drew turned 11 and had a sledding party while we were in town, and many of his buddies came to celebrate. He had a great time and received a lot of well wishes and birthday treats. We enjoyed hot cocoa, snacks, and an ice-cream cake. Yes, I said an ice-cream cake. Gotta love it.

Thank goodness for the campfire.

Not often we get the whole family together. So of course, I annoyed everyone into a group shot! :)

We may have to take the train more often now that Felicia takes to writhing and screaming in her car seat. But that's a whole 'nother story I'd rather not enlighten you with.
